 Madisonville Passes Budget for FY 2009 – 2010
In what started as conversations with Department heads and finalized with passage by the City Council, the City of Madisonville has adopted its budget for FY 2009 – 2010.
Some highlights of the budget include:
- Overall Budget is made up of 13 separate and distinct budgets
- City expenditures kept in-line with City revenues
- General Fund revenues estimated to decrease by about 1%
- General Fund expenses reduced by about 2%
- No Cost of Living Adjustment for employees
- Mandated contribution by City of Madisonville to State Retirement System increased by almost $400,000
- No anticipated layoffs but continuation of limited hiring freeze
- Includes debt service on loan resulting from expenses related to 2009 ice storm
- Accounts for awarded grant funds for various projects
The budget passed is reflective of the current economic climate while continuing to serve the public in the most efficient and economically manner possible without diminishing the level of service the public has come to expect from the City of Madisonville.
